We used Birdsong Events for our wedding at the end of November 2019. Richard was brilliant and took care of everything music sound and band related. We had a Jazz band, string duo, DJ for a pool party as well as the ultimate highlight of the ultimate roaming party band during our wedding reception. Which created an unbelievable atmosphere that has very few comparable. Just watch the video and see for yourself. I can’t recommend Birdsong Events and Richard highly enough and for sure will ask him to work with us again when we renew our vows or a baby-shower or a round birthday or alike.

Zelda was our wedding planner (we now live in London, and were in desperate need of help) and honestly would have been lost without her. She is incredible. So clever, talented, efficient and one of the coolest people I’ve ever met. PLUS she comes with an amazing DJ husband – Richard. Richard is amazing! Such a fun guy and brilliant DJ! He went the extra mile and worked with us to get the perfect tune for our first dance – this is seriously an unexpected extra special detail that you wouldn’t expect in a wedding DJ. We booked Richard for our wedding in Franschhoek. He was hired to do all music and sound on the day – and he really exceeded our expectations! He did the sound during the ceremony and played the guitar, provided acoustic background music during pre-drinks, put together a superb band and DJ-ed for us. The dance floor was busy at all times and lots of people commented on how much they enjoyed the music! Richard is a very talented musician, and in addition a very nice person to work with. His attitude is great, communication beforehand was super easy and he is very accommodating. Really recommend his services!

We had been shopping around for a wedding DJ for ages. We got some ridiculous quotes and no one really seemed to offer any kind of out of the box service. A mate said I should speak to Richard and the rest is history. He went above and beyond in every single aspect. He helped us choose the song my wife walked down the aisle to, and on top of that played it on guitar and sang as she walked towards me. A moment that I will never forget. As the day progressed he proceeded to crush every aspect of the sound and music, there were no sound issues at all. Not one. I can’t even remember the last time I went to a wedding where the mic didn’t stop 5 times during speeches. Something else that stood out was that he didn’t have a constant bombardment of people trying to request music. He read the crowd and the dance floor was full from start to finish.

From the moment I contacted Birdsong, Zelda instantly brought us out of a state of overwhelming panic and confusion. She had personalised checklists, made phone calls for us, and told us not to worry about countless things, as she did them for us. She was also constantly in touch with both of us to remind us of things we needed to do and always made herself available for a chat or a meeting. Zelda saved us so much time and unnecessary stress that came with organising our wedding, she is actually a lifesaver! Zelda was there from the very beginning coordinating everyone and everything. Not only is she ridiculously organised, she is an extremely genuine, caring and the loveliest soul you could meet. Richard on the other hand, made sure that the performance part was running smoothly and oh my, what a talented musician!! I honestly cannot recommend Zelda & Richard highly enough.
